limewash

Soft Movement. Natural Depth.

An expressive mineral-based wall finish defined by its soft, matte appearance and subtle variations in tone.
Applied by hand, Muralis limewash creates beautifully nuanced surfaces that bring warmth, movement, and understated character to architectural interiors.

THE ART OF LIMEWASH

Beautifully Imperfect By Design

Rooted in traditional mineral finishing techniques, Muralis Lime Wash is a decorative lime-based coating formulated with hydrated lime putty, selected mineral fillers, and specialized modifiers.

Its thin application allows the natural character of the underlying surface to remain visible, creating soft, vibrant shades with subtle tonal movement.

Each application develops its own visual character, shaped by the material, application technique, and surrounding light. The result is a breathable mineral finish that brings warmth, depth, and an understated sense of craftsmanship to architectural interiors and suitable exterior surfaces.

MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS

Naturally Beautiful. Thoughtfully Formulated.

More than an aesthetic choice, Muralis Lime Wash combines natural mineral character with carefully considered material performance.

  1. Natural Mineral Composition

Formulated with hydrated lime putty and selected mineral fillers, creating a finish with an authentic mineral appearance.

  2. Subtle Tonal Movement

Its thin application produces subtle color variations while allowing the character of the underlying substrate to remain visible.

  3. Breathable Surfaces

High water-vapor permeability allows moisture vapor to pass through the coating, making it particularly suited to compatible mineral substrates.

  4. Interior & Exterior Versatility

Designed for interior walls and suitable exterior facades, including traditional and historic architectural settings, subject to substrate and exposure conditions.

  5. Certified Indoor Air Quality

The material is covered by Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification and carries an A+ indoor air quality classification, supporting its specification for projects with indoor air quality considerations.

SUITABLE SUBSTRATES

Best suited to natural lime plaster, Muralis Lime Wash may also be applied to appropriately prepared lime and cement mortars, premixed render, existing lime or gypsum plaster, and gypsum plasterboard.

Substrates must be fully cured, dry, sound, and free of dust or salts. New substrates typically require approximately four weeks of curing, and suitable primers may be necessary.

ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS

The material is covered by Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification, which includes periodic VOC-emissions testing and production surveillance. The certification encompasses French A+ emissions criteria and requirements referenced by LEED, BREEAM New Construction, and WELL Building.

BEYOND THE PALETTE

A Color of Your Own

Every project has its own palette, materials, and architectural identity.

Beyond our twelve standard shades, Muralis offers custom color development to help achieve a specific tonal direction or complement an existing design scheme.

From subtle adjustments to entirely new color expressions, our team works with you to develop a limewash finish that feels considered and cohesive with its surroundings.

THE APPLICATION

Every Layer Matters

The beauty of limewash lies in the relationship between material, technique, and the surface beneath it.

Applied in two carefully worked coats, Muralis Lime Wash develops its characteristic depth and natural color variation through the application process.

Whether applied by brush, roller, or airless equipment, the chosen technique influences the final appearance. Our approach considers the substrate, surrounding architecture, and desired visual effect to create a finish that feels cohesive with the space.

Every surface is approached with intention, allowing the natural qualities of the material to become part of the design.

EXPERIENCE THE FINISH

See the Color.
Feel the Texture.

The true character of limewash is best experienced in person.
Physical samples allow you to explore its tonal movement, matte appearance, and relationship with light before making a final selection.
